Recently my husband and I needed to make our ensuite larger to enable my husband access in his wheelchair to the toilet , and to make our shower area bigger so he can sit comfortably on a chair to shower adequately. He had had several falls in the shower and toilet and being small it was a real effort to get him up and in his chair.
We had seen an ad in the spinal life magazine of a company V.I.P.Access who we thought may be able to help us ascertain just what we needed to help us overcome our problem to help Fred keep as much independence and dignity as possible in the most basic of life’s necessities.
We rang the spinal life occupational therapist and also the V.I.P. Access, Scott Darmanin who is not only a master builder, but also a wheelie who would understand just what we needed. They both thought out a general layout that would accommodate Fred’s needs and we went from there.
Scott gave us a plan and quote to completely change our ensuite, re-positioning the toilet, having it higher , and gutting the rest, removing the walk-in robe wall, and making the access door a meter wide. Having a vanity that he could wheel in under to reach the tap and sink, and a shower much larger which he can easily get in and out of, requiring very little help from me.
All the work was carried out in a most proficient manner and each one of the workmen gave 110% in their workmanship and their helpful manner. Scott regularly came out and controlled the job from start to finish, making sure we were happy.
We have no hesitation in recommending Scott’s services to anyone and would have no hesitation in securing his services for any other work in the future.
Fred and Lyn Holdsworth.
